Alright, ladies and gentlemen, It has come to my attention that some people are uncertain in terms of creating characters, so I decided to make this to help out.
Ok, so the first thing there is to know about creating a character is: The sky is the limit. That statement couldn't be more true for anything else. when it comes to role playing, your imagination is your key tool of operation.
One thing you have to be careful of, however, is creating the annoying characters known as Mary Sues and Gary Stus. Characters like these will definitely put you on the bad list with fellow, experienced role payers.
What is a Mary Sue/Gary Stu?
A Mary Sue/Gary Stu is an immortal character. For example, a character that is ridiculously strong, or that never dies. Regardless of the circumstances, every character will die, one way or another. Life can be extended under certain circumstances, but nothing lasts forever.
Characters that are ridiculously good looking, and powerful, are considered Mary Sues/Gary Stus. Think about it, how many people are gorgeous and strong? Limit yourself. You have to be sure, hwoever, that you don't make a complete Anti Sue.
What is an Anti-Sue?
An Anti-sue is a ridiculously weak/stupid/ugly character. Do not limit your character too much or you won't be able to do anything with them.
-----
Keep in mind that most characters begin as Mary Sues when they are first created. You must develop your character into someone you want to be within reasonable standards. Do not make them too weak, or too powerful. Balance your characters out. Think everything through before creating your character, and don't make things up as you go.
Be sure to become a character that you can easily play. Do not create a personality that you cannon become, because it will annoy people, and it will make role playing less fun. Be who you want to be.
Now, some people think that role playing is Gender Specific. It is not by any means. The beauty of role playing is that you can be who you want. A boy does not have to play a boy character, and likewise with a girl. If you want to play a character of the opposite gender, do so, but remember, make sure you can pull if off. Most people are capable of doing it; they just need to open their minds.
Don't go making twenty characters. Only make as many as you can keep up with. Experienced roleplayers can have four or five and keep them all in character, and active. Unless you can handle more then one character, don't try it.
INCOMPLETE. This section will be updated based on questions on character production. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the questions thread, or PM me or an admin personally and it will be answered and added to this list.
